Julian Hamman is a filmmaker & video artist based in Sydney, Australia. His practice combines elements of slow cinema and tragedy story structure; often following working-class characters who are tackling disillusionment, apathy and suburban malaise.

His recent video installation, PARKLAND was created for Scratch Art Space in Sydney, played at a solo exhibition at LOT Projects in London, and an additional show at Confort Mental in Paris. In 2022, his short film DAYDREAM won Best International Film at the First Cut Festival in Ireland, and was curated for the 24-Hour Mopoke Festival in Sydney. 

In 2024, he was chosen to participate in Playlab’s CREATORS LAB under the guidance of Pedro Costa in Yucatán, Mexico. Additionally, his video works have featured in exhibitions within Bankstown Art Centre & The University of Technology, Sydney.
